Rules for July 1 rally organisers relaxed
The police has relaxed the strict rules for the organisers of the scheduled July 1 protest rally. It was set to start at Causeway Bay’s Victoria Park towards the Central Government Offices. The organisers’ appeal was approved but they were told to ‘redirect’ the sound-makers of the march away from the homes. The Civil Human Rights Front were announced to work to their best ability to ‘ensure’ the compliance of the crowd although it is not their full responsibilities to do so. However, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department informed theme that they must try to move the sound-markers away from the homes so that they do not disturb the residents there.
Hence, they must direct the sound makers towards Victoria Harbour. The new directive did not go well with the Front though as they compared it to the likes of sports games and football matches where noise are allowed.
The organisers were first told control the crowd during the rally but they claimed that they would not have the authority to do so what more if they are asked to ‘ensure’ which is utterly impossible. Hence, they claimed that the ‘impossible’ rule were just attempts to suppress free speech.
